School of Accountancy

The experiences of your alumni attest to the value of a Daniels degree. Most begin their careers as auditors or tax associates in public accounting firms. Within five years they advance to consultant, advisor, partner, controller, CFO, CIO and other managerial and executive positions.

  • 90% of MBA graduates accept positions within three months of graduation.
  • 95-100% of MAcc graduates accept positions within three months of graduation. That’s been true every year for the past 25 years—even in years when demand for accountants was flat.
  • 99% of accounting interns receive job offers from their employers, and nearly all accept the offers.
  • Most MAcc graduates pass the CPA exam the first time they take it. If you compare CPA pass rates among alumni from all universities in the country, you’ll find Daniels at DU consistently in the top 10%.

Internships and field experiences comprise the centerpiece of the MAcc curriculum, and we take them seriously. Application and screening are rigorous, and the work is challenging.

If you’re like most interns, you’ll spend three months performing audits, not filling in around the edges but getting to the substantive core. You’ll come to own what you’ve learned in the classroom, you’ll make important business connections—and, most likely, you’ll end your term with an offer of full-time employment.
