Graduate Admissions Criteria
Apply by May 15. Scholarships and funding are available for a September start.
Academic RecordGiven the rigor of the Daniels programs, we seek students who have demonstrated the ability to succeed in an academic setting. Graduate students must have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university before matriculation in the graduate program. Submit one official transcript from each higher educational institution you attended in officially sealed envelopes. Transcripts that arrive in opened envelopes are not considered official. If transcripts are in a language other than English, you must submit an original copy of the transcripts as well as official English translations of those documents. Applicants with foreign credentials must also submit official proof of the degree earned (e.g., a copy of diploma or certificate) with an English translation. International transcripts must be signed by a certifying representative of the institution and received in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution. GMAT/GRE ScoresWe look for a good balance of verbal and quantitative scores on your GMAT or GRE. All graduate-level applicants, except Executive MBA or Executive RECM Distance Learning candidates, must submit an official GMAT or GRE score. The Professional MBA will consider, on a case-by-case basis, GMAT waiver requests. All applicants who wish to be considered for merit-based scholarships and graduate assistantships must submit a GMAT score. To learn more about the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), visit www.mba.com. Daniels and other groups offer GMAT preparation courses. To learn more about the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), visit the GRE website. Work ExperienceWork experience requirements vary with each degree program. It is required for the Executive MBA and the Professional MBA and recommended for all other degree programs. In reviewing your work experience, we consider your achievements, managerial or leadership potential, contributions to community, personal ethics and values, and motivation for a graduate business education. Check with a Graduate Admissions Manager to see if your intended program of study has a work experience requirement for admission. Letters of RecommendationTwo letters of recommendation are required from individuals (nonrelatives) who can evaluate your academic and/or work performance as well as your potential for success in graduate school. Please provide the email addresses of your recommenders when filling out the online application and let them know that they will receive an e-mail from Daniels with instructions on how to submit the completed recommendation form online. If you prefer to contact your recommenders directly, you may download the letter of recommendation form for ALL graduate programs (MBA, IMBA, EMBA, PMBA and specialized master's degrees) and have them send the completed form to Daniels@du.edu. EssaysEssays are assessed for clarity, organization, conciseness and grammar. Through the essays, you can communicate what you hope to achieve at Daniels and how you will contribute to the Daniels community. Take advantage of the optional essay question (#3) to let us know what sets you apart from others applying to the program. Admissions InterviewThe admissions interview is an opportunity for both you and Daniels admissions staff to evaluate whether there is a good match. The admission interview is required for all Executive and Professional MBA applicants. Interviews for other applicants are conducted on an invitation only basis. In each case, applicants are contacted by a Daniels representative to schedule the admissions interview, which will be conducted in person or by phone. Most international admission interviews are conducted via web cam. |
