TAYLOR MADE: Our town's Andy and Barbara Taylor have given the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business a gift of $5 million to foster diversity among undergraduate students.
The money will be added to the already-established Taylor Scholarship endowment of $1 million. The university has matched the Taylors' new gift, bringing the total in the scholarship fund to $11 million.
For the upcoming academic year, Daniels has awarded 35 Taylor scholarships and plans to add more later in the year. Christine Riordan, Daniels' dean, said the Taylors' donation will be meaningful to the university.
"The generous gift of the Taylor scholarships will help Daniels recruit top students from diverse backgrounds, regardless of their financial need, helping many deserving students achieve their educational goals," Riordan said in a news release. "Andy and Barbara share our belief that providing tomorrow's business leaders an ethics-based business education is important -- now more than ever."
Andy Taylor is the chairman and CEO of Enterprise Holdings, parent company of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car.
