We solve business problems.

The business world today is awash in data. By one estimate, mankind created 1,200 exabytes (billion billion bytes) just last year alone. This data deluge is transforming the way business gets done. Those who are adept at capturing, analyzing, distilling and displaying massive data sets to drive innovative business decisions and actions are winning. The Department of Business Information and Analytics offers the opportunity for all business students to learn the statistical and computational techniques to turn raw data into actionable information. And for those who want to specialize in quantitative modeling, problem solving, decision-making or information systems in business, we offer undergraduate degrees in both Information Technology and Statistics, and an MS and MBA concentrations in Business Intelligence.

Points of pride for the Department of Business Information and Analytics at Daniels:

  • Top MIS textbook: The best selling, introductory textbook on management information systems (MIS), Business Driven Technology, was written by two of our faculty members, Amy Phillips and Paige Baltzan.
  • An ethical framework: We emphasize the responsibility information professionals have to speak out on business issues that affect society at large. From privacy and security issues to business intelligence and information access, ethical decision making skills are critical in a fast-paced global environment.
